SCREENBREAK Week Begins March 4, 2018
The Alliance for Early Childhood began "TV Tune Out Week" in 1995 to encourage families to turn off the television for a whole week and to examine the role that television plays in their lives, while exploring other options. As technology has advanced, this special week has expanded to include all screens including TV, computers, video games, hand held devices, and even texting. The new name "ScreenBreak" reflects this inclusive approach. From March 4-10, families are encouraged to enjoy their own activities at home or some of the many alternatives offered throughout the community. Copies of The ScreenBreak Guide, which contain details about activities scheduled throughout the week, will go home in backpacks in the next week.
Learning Center News
Mrs. Johnson has kicked off the Olympics Reading Challenge. Each student is challenged to complete 4, 8 or 12 events. Forms were sent home in backpacks and can also be downloaded from the Learning Center webpage.
