Dr.Greene's Back-to-School Letter 2018

3RD GRADERS  are now riding their bicycles to and from school, having successfully completed their week long bicycle safety course in PE class. Please be mindful of our newest "commuters" as you drive throughout Northfield, and do inform us of any safety concerns you might see while on the roads. Safety instructions for students include wearing helmets, as well as walking their bicycles across the street, when crossing parking lot driveways, and when passing through or by a construction area.

3rd to 4th GRADE TRANSITION DAY is Friday May 24th in the morning. Parents are invited to attend from 9:15-11:40 a.m. Look for a letter from Drs. Greene and Sukenik in your 3rd grader's backpack or download a copy here. 2018 3rd to 4th Transition Letter.pdf

Please see the attached flyer if you are available to assist with the annual Field Day activities on Thursday afternoon, May 30. Field Day 2019.pdf

continues at Middlefork School! Thanks to your contributions and the coordinated efforts of parent volunteers Trish Andrew and Steve Tomlinson, we recently received a check for $160.00! We are working with our students to decide how to put the money to good use. One idea is to create something memorable to be placed in our renovated library or Makerspace next school year. Another is to put it toward a service project of the Dedicated Dolphins. So please don’t stop clipping and sending Boxtops in! They adorn hundreds of products, a list of which can be viewed at https://www.boxtops4education.com/earn/participating-products

LUNCHES FOR THE HOMELESS: Thank you for your support of this longstanding Middlefork program. Together we provided more than 1000 lunches this school year. (homeless lunch dates Note.docx)
2019-20 KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION - NEW PROCEDURES: Registration has begun! All children should be five years of age by September 1, 2019, to be eligible for the 2019-2020 school year. The registration process begins with residency verification, which includes three different forms of documentation, as well as a copy of one's homeowner's or renter's insurance. This is true for ALL families, including those with older students presently registered in District 29. Additionally, parents or guardians of each prospective kindergarten student must provide the child's birth certificate (the school will make and retain a copy). Specific directions for the residency verification can be found under the Parent tab of this website. Lastly, the registration evening is for parents and guardians; the prospective student need not be present. Early enrollment figures are critical to staffing plans for the upcoming school year, so we appreciate everyone spreading the word and registering in January!

CELL PHONES IN THE DRIVEWAY: Drivers should cease using their cell phones during pick-up or drop-off time, when students are present on the sidewalk. We understand that some people arrive early, but once the students appear, the potential for distraction makes cell phone usage unsafe. Thank you for putting down your phones while there are children on the sidewalk!
